Eight Tips for Feeling Hopeful When You're Single
Summertime is often synonymous with love and relationships. It seems like everywhere you look, people are coupling up and enjoying the sunny weather together. If you’re single and feeling lonely, this can be a tough time. Here are 8 tips to help you feel more hopeful during this season.
Increase the Amount of Time You Spend with Amazing People
Let’s face it, there are times when we all feel lonely and depressed. This is especially true during the long summer days when you wish you had a partner. If you find yourself feeling this way, spending more time with your amazing friends and family is a great way to remind yourself that you’re loved.
When you’re single, it’s easy to feel like you’re missing out on something. Spending time with friends is a great way to keep yourself sane during this time.
Work on yourself
The best way to find someone to spend the rest of your life with is to work on yourself first. Develop new hobbies, try new things, get out and volunteer. You will make new friends, and have a lot of fun. It is easier to attract the right person when you are happy and confident.
Trying new things and doing things that you love to do will lead to meeting like minded people who enjoy doing those things too.
If old emotional baggage is holding you back, consider therapy. You can finally free yourself of past relationship issues, low confidence and low self esteem. With your therapist, you can strategize and set goals, learn effective coping strategies, and improve your self confidence.
Set goals to feel better
If you’re not in a relationship, you should set goals to help you feel better. If you’re looking to meet a potential partner, a fun activity like a hike or an exciting date night can help you get out of your head and into the day.
Be Active
Get out and do things. Even if it’s just going for a walk or a run, you’ll feel better.
Watch what you eat
Overeating can make you feel depressed, so try not to eat too much. You can also opt for a healthy new diet by trying something new like a new cuisine, an exotic fruit, juicing, or learn to cook healthy if you don't know how. (maybe even take a cooking class!)
Get out and do something
Taking a vacation or going on a trip with family and friends can help you feel better. Or just going to a friend's house can help.
Get out of your head
Don’t think so much about the future, or about how you don’t have a partner. Instead, take time to enjoy the moment. Go for a walk, go to the beach, or even take a walk around your neighborhood. Don't allow yourself to overthink things.
There are many ways to help yourself feel better and find hope. Even if you’re single, you can make it a happy time by following these tips.
